OPTION 1 (very time consuming)

Charges cannot be filed by telephone.  You can start the process of filing a charge by contacting (1-800-669-4000).  You may be asked a few questions tell help the EEOC staff determine whether or not you are covered by the laws they enforce.

OPTION 2 (most time consuming)

You can visit your local field office, but they highly recommend that you call first because the intake process can take up to 2 hours to complete.

OPTION 3 (often incorrect and unprofessional)

You can mail or fax a letter to the EEOC within 180 days (sometimes that can be extended to 300 days in some cases) with the following information:

• Your name, address, and telephone number
• The name, address and telephone number of the employer (or employment agency or union) you want to file your charge against
• The number of employees employed by the company or number of union members in all locations (if known)
• A short description of the events you believe were discriminatory (for example, you were fired, demoted, harassed)
• When the events took place
• Why you believe you were discriminated against and on what basis (for example, because of your race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, and/or disability)
• Your signature

OPTION 4 (recommended for fast, easy, professional filing!)
